Saying the Rosary

On Tuesday, our class led the Rosary for grades 3-5 saying the Sorrowful Mysteries.

Surreal Pumpkins

In Art, we studied Salvador Dali and his art style of surrealism. The goal of this project was to create "Surrealism Pumpkins" by putting pumpkins in a setting that they normally wouldn't be found in. Wow...we have some creative artists in 5B! They will be hanging in the hallway for you to look at Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Spell-It-Out

We were able to listen to an "anti-bullying" presentation titled "Spell It Out". The presentation showed us examples of different types of bullying such as emotional, physical, verbal, and cyber. We then learned on various strategies to help if we ever feel bullied. Remember...SSM is a NO BULLY ZONE.

Terra Nova Testing - DONE!

WOO-HOO...The students finished their week of Terra Nova Testing. What a relief! I am so proud of their hard work. Thank you to all the parents that donated snacks and drinks throughout the week. Taking breaks was essential for our brains and it was great for them to get energized between tests!

PreSchool Buddies - Becoming Scientists

We got to meet our Preschool Buddies today. Our class is paired up with the new "High Fivers" Program. The students started off by listening to a story and then we became "scientists" with our buddies making different colors with food coloring. They turned those colors into an art project for the preschoolers. What better way to end the project, but with a snack. We will do at least three more projects with them!

8th Grade Egg Drop

We were able to go and watch one 8th grade class to the annual Egg Drop this morning. The 8th graders build devices that weigh less than 40 grams. They drop these devices from a 2nd floor window with an egg inside with the hopes of the egg not break. What great weather they had!
